About the Client
A self-publishing author whose 50-chapter nonfiction title needed a store-ready ebook edition – the same book our team produced in print and screen-PDF formats, with the EPUB3 built as the third format from the same InDesign source.
Challenge & Solution
We build ebooks from InDesign, Word, or PDF sources – engineered rather than auto-converted:
- Semantic, per-chapter XHTML structure with a clean spine and metadata
- Embedded licensed fonts (EB Garamond and Montserrat) with standard font obfuscation
- The designed cover built in as the opening page
- Two navigation layers – the reader’s built-in contents and a linked TOC page
- Validated with EPUBCheck before delivery
Engineered, Not Auto-Converted
What’s under the hood decides whether a store accepts your file. Every book is finished by hand in Sigil: clean semantic XHTML for each chapter, a structured spine, correct metadata, and properly declared embedded fonts. Reflowable EPUB3 then adapts to the device instead of fighting it – readers control the font size, images scale to the screen, and nothing breaks because there is no fixed layout to break.
Results & Deliverables
- A validated reflowable EPUB3 – the EPUBCheck run shown is real: 0 fatals / 0 errors / 0 warnings

- Aggregator-ready for Draft2Digital and PublishDrive, including OverDrive library distribution
- Embedded fonts, built-in cover, and dual navigation throughout
- EPUB produced from your Word, PDF, or InDesign files – or from your printed book
